- A proud Deaf bilingual native Auslan user (quite a mouthful, eh?), a mother to 4 non-deaf human kids and a large collection of furry & feathery kids.
- A bibliophile and a writer.
- Taught Auslan for over 30 years to people from 0 to 99 (yes, I like Lego).
- Degrees in Linguistics, Education, and Family History (I know – I am a geek!).
- A hunter and collector of both dead and living deaf people in Australia.
- Fun fact – I have over 15 deaf relatives in my family, spanning 4 generations.

FAQs
What's involved in the workshops? Is preparation required?
The workshops are very interactive, with lots of discussion, so you will need to come ready to participate. There are no prerequisites other than being able to communicate in Auslan. There may be a few activities you are asked to do or think about in preparation, and these will be sent with your reminder email prior to the workshop.
Can I use my NDIS funds to pay for these workshops?
NDIS funding can be used for study or training activities that:
- are linked to your disability
- meet the reasonable and neccessary test
- support your goals for equal access and participation
As a Deaf person, the content of these workshops is clearly linked to your “disability”, and will certainly improve your ability to use Auslan and hence communicate more effectively.
If in doubt, discuss with your support co-ordinator or LAC.
If you wish MyAuslan to invoice your NDIS Plan Manager directly, just select Direct Deposit as payment method when booking, and in the Customer Notes section enter your NDIS Plan Manager’s billing email, and your NDIS participant number.
Â
Will these workshop also run in other States or online?
Absolutely these workshops will run in other cities. Keep an eye on our website for dates for Perth, Adelaide and Sydney later this year.
We will do online workshops down the track for those in remote locations that can’t get to the capital cities.
