I’ve been asked a question on how to sign “Thursday” – which finger to use: index or middle?
Really, either will do, however I do use middle as it is easy to move to the next part of the sign (from ‘T’ to ‘H’).
TH is now a lexicalised sign, however either finger will do.
However I can tell whether a signer is Auslan L1 (first language user) or L2 (second language user) by the choice of the finger and the movement!
